Picture Update
"I just want to know WHAT IT IS!!!"
..exclaimed Marthe to the Bic Salesman in frustration. This is what happened:
Having purchased her beloved Rolleiflex, the enthusiastic salesman gave her a card, saying something along the lines of "Tommolow---you come---pay card."
Naturally, we had no idea what that meant- but we knew that there was a salesman 7 floors down who spoke perfect english..so we grabbed the card and went in search of him.
The only problem: we couldn't remember what he looked like.
Thus, the situation-
Marthe to anonymous countersalesman: Hi, I just bought this camera and they gave me this card- can you tell me what it is?
Salesman #1: Oh yes, yes- points to receipt, takes the card... and runs off with it.
Rebecca: Oh boy..there he goes.
Salesman #2: Yes hello?
Random salesman in the background points to us and laughs, telling his college "Ha ha, English-speaking member."
Marthe freezes, Member??
Marthe: Hello, I bought this camera and I got a card- and I just want to know what it is."
Salesman #2: Yes, yes- nods vigerously- One moment.
Salesman #3 returns with the card.
Salesman #2 points to card and says "Pointe Cuardo des."
Marthe: Yes, but what is it?
Finally, the english-speaking salesman appears. He gives us a short, sceptical look and says knowingly, "Yes, well, this is the Point Card. You get points for every purchase you buy. Tomorrow, you can get less price if you buy goods."
Rebecca: "Oh, so it's like a discount card."
English-speaking-salesman: "Yes. A discount card." (in the tones of someone actually saying "Now, get out.")
We leave.
Later that night, when buying beer at Hard Rock Cafe-
Marthe: We'd like to pay please.
Waiter: Hai, you have point card?
Marthe: NO! NO POINT CARDS!
