The Good Tourist List: (ie our conduct mainly)
- Let Japanese photographer take picture of you and be polite and heed advice regarding your own camera (Marthe takes better pictures now)
- Try to learn the language, but know when to stop (M+B: "Konnichiwa!" JP: "Hello.." M+B: "Oh..hello.")
- Try the local food
- Give up your metro seat to elderly and parents
- Scowl at and comment on OTHER tourists (particularily the loud ones who did not give up their seat at the metro)
- Walk with the main stream, even though it takes you in the opposite direction of where you want to go
- Visit National Art Museums (Believe it or not, we were the only foreign tourists there)
Bad Tourist List:
- Hang out and buy absolutely all our coffee at Starbucks
- Point at tiny writing in phrasebook when ordering sparkling water (and ending up with Coca- Cola because it was the only word you could agree on)
And that's pretty much how bad we've been- and we think we're doing pretty well actually.
Now over to something completely different:
Today, Marthe died and went to camera heaven. Indeed, good people, she found and saw, and stood twenty cm from it- the most holy- fantastic- ROLLEIFLEX CAMERA! (Which Rebecca doesn't now how to spell and doesn't really care). And then she found a BIGGER Rolleiflex, and a Leica, and a Holga, and a Hasselblad, and Rebecca saw her no more. And now she's broke.
In other words, today we visited Akihabara Electric Town and the Shopping district of Harajuku.
Tomorrow, we're going to an Anime Festival.
